The holiday season is upon us, so it’s time to utilize those Co-op funds for some extra advertising! If your customers had “explosive” registers ringing on their Black Friday sales that is fantastic. If they didn’t, it is time to put the pedal to the metal. Even if they did do great, I am sure they would be more than happy to deplete most (if not all) of their holiday inventory. One of the hottest items each year is holiday jewelry purchases. If you are helping your customers to design ads with special promotions and discounts to capture the festive shopping spirit you are definitely “in the right lane”. Customers typically spend more per person on Christmas gifts than birthday gifts, so this makes it a great time to purchase jewelry.
Let’s look at a few Holiday Jewelry Shopping Facts that you may be able to incorporate into some great ad campaigns.
Holiday Jewelry Shopping Facts
- Not only do people spend more on jewelry at Christmas time, but there is also an increase in choices/styles brought out for Christmas. There are festive (Christmas-themed designs) as well as popular choices like diamond stud earrings, initial necklaces, watches and so on.
- Christmas is also a peak time for marriage proposals which increases demand and prices for engagement rings. Believe it or not, rubies and emeralds (now those colors scream Christmas!) are two of the three most popular engagement stones (along with sapphires) behind a diamond. Other popular alternatives include morganite, aquamarine and topaz, which all provide unique colors and a different look.
- The average person spends $1,014 on Christmas/holiday gifts. Now the interesting part is that the people surveyed planned on spending $820 and ended up over budget (glad to know I am not the only one doing this!).
- Here is an interesting finding: The Northeast and Midwest spend the most on jewelry gifts, while the Southwest and West plan for a more modest spend.
