Everyone thinks about using co-op funds for new cars, but don’t forget the Parts & Service departments at those dealerships, the auto parts stores, the oil change centers as they all have great co-op opportunities. This is a fantastic time to help all your Parts Dealers advertise Spring Car Care checkups. With Easter and Spring Breaks right around the corner, a lot of people are getting ready to “hit the road”!

Let’s look at some facts on Easter/Spring Break travel. A few of these facts may “spark” some creativity in creating some great campaigns for your customers.

Easter/Spring Break Travel

  • Survey data shows that 55% of Americans plan to vacation this spring!
  • A significant number of people drive versus fly during spring break. The weather is usually warmer, so the roads are less hazardous. Plus, if you go as a family, you may have some additional college-age drivers in the car to share the driving load. In addition, you may plan on hitting popular spots in each state on the way to your final destination.
  • Popular Spring Break destinations are all the beach towns, so if you have customers (not necessarily car-related) who have businesses along these beaches, this is a great opportunity to approach them about using their co-op funds.
  • Texas Hill Country (including the San Antonio area), New York, and Washington DC are also very popular Spring Break destinations that don’t involve a beach. Think The Alamo, The Capital Building, and of course, lots of shopping in New York.
  • Before you hit the road, your car may need a full tune-up. If not, at the very least, make sure to check your tire pressure and tread because nothing dampens vacation excitement more than a flat tire and hanging out on the side of the road.
  • You should also check your wipers, coolant, and brake fluid. Most importantly, be sure to check your oil level. A quick oil change may be needed before your trip, and making sure everything is in great working order should also help with gas mileage.
  • Make sure your vehicle has jumper cables, windshield washer fluid, a flashlight, and other “emergency” items.
