The next couple of weeks are a great time to help your clients (think Ace Hardware, etc.) that sell barbeque grills, smokers, and other outdoor cooking accessories in utilizing their co-op dollars to promote “huge” once-a-year sales events. Memorial Day was just celebrated earlier in the week, and as we all know, that is the official kick-off to summer fun, in which outdoor cooking is a big component.

For many outdoor cooking brands, this is the time for consumers to get the best pricing on new equipment. Here are just a couple:

Traeger Memorial Day Sale offers significant discounts, up to $300 off select wood pellet grills and smokes. Key deals expected include savings on the Pro 22, Pro 34, Tailgater and Ironwood XL models.

Broil King is expected to offer significant discounts on grills and accessories, with past promotions offering up to 40% off accessories and major markdowns on propane grills.

Big Green Egg will be offering feature bundle deals and special pricing, primarily through authorized retailers like Ace Hardware. They rarely offer discounts on individual grills, but they often offer 10% off on bundled accessory packages, or special pricing during late May/early June. A sample of a prior sale included the Large Ceramic Grill & Smoker Kit for around $1,619.00 which included the Egg, the nest and the handler.

Another thought for using co-op funds are “in-store” events around this time. Quite a few local hardware stores may offer you in-person cooking demos, allowing you to secure deals, delivery and even assembly. Many brands offer co-op funding for in-store events, demos and Trade Shows.

Dealers earn 3% of their net purchases from the current year as their co-op accrual fund. Reimbursement is 50% for traditional and digital advertising.

Traeger Pellet Grills, LLC – Traeger Grills
They do not have a “set” co-op program, it is called their partnership marketing and is done on a case-by-case basis with Traeger’s most aligned retailers across the country. Contact your mfr. sales rep. for more details.
