If you work with any travel agency customers – now is an amazing time for them to use their co-op funds to promote holiday travel. I am sure you already know that Thanksgiving and Christmas are the biggest travel days of the year. Not only are people flying everywhere to see family and friends connect for the holidays, but some folks prefer to travel to “skip” all the holiday drama and just enjoy some time with their immediate family (think cruises). So, no matter the reason, this is a great time for your customers to use their co-op funds by the end of this year so they don’t lose them!

Here are some facts about the travel industry as you might be able to come up with an angle to include them in your customer’s advertising campaign.

Travel Industry Factoids

  • As mentioned above, Thanksgiving and Christmas are the busiest travel days of the year, but July is the busiest travel month. The slowest travel month of the year is May.
  • If you do not like crowds and want to avoid many children, do not take a holiday cruise. They will be extremely crowded, and you will find a higher percentage of children on the cruise than any other time of the year (gotta love those long Christmas school breaks…lol!). That also happens to be the time that ALL cruise lines receive the biggest number of customer complaints.
  • If you want to cruise without many kids, the “sweet spot” may be mid-September through October. However, you need to watch where you will “cruise” (such as the Caribbean) as September can be the worst month due to hurricanes.
  • November through February is where you’ll find some of the best deals for cruising – excluding the holidays or special events.
  • The average 7-day cruise cost for 2 people is $3,000. Of course, this can vary based on the cruise line, cabin type, and destination.
  • Even though the cruise price is all inclusive you still manage to spend money on incidentals or trips to the shore, etc. The average passenger spends an additional $80 to $90 per day.
