Just because we passed Labor Day this last weekend DO NOT put away that BBQ Grill! Not only do we still have three “official” weeks of summer left, but we also have all those football tailgate parties to attend. You cannot do a proper tailgate without a proper grill!

How did Tailgate Parties Come to Be:

Following the invention of wooden-sided station wagons in the 1930s, fans used the rear fold-down tailgates as seats or buffet tables. Thus, the pregame partying was increasing called “tailgating”. Some folks credit Yale sports information director, Charlie Loftus, it’s not clear who, if anyone, coined the term.

Top tailgate foods ranked by college students:

  • Hot Dogs
  • Beer
  • Macaroni and Cheese
  • Buffalo Chicken Wings
  • Nachos
  • Burgers
  • Mozzarella Sticks
  • Dips and Chips

A veggie idea for the grill:

According to Food Network, everyone throws corn on the cob on the grill, but what about thinking outside the box a bit? A veggie you may never have thought of grilling…Edamame! You may have had them steamed or broiled but try them grilled and let them get a little smoky char. Poke some holes on a sheet of foil then grill them until lightly browned.

Listed below are a few of the brands (and there are many), that offer co-op funding in the BBQ/Grilling world. If any of your customers sell any BBQ/grilling equipment this is a great time to advertise the brands they carry and use co-op funding while doing it. Since we are getting close to the last quarter of 2022 – remember it’s use it or lose it – don’t let that co-op money “go up in smoke”!

Brand Name – Product/Service – High-Level Guidelines
