When it comes to co-op, everyone thinks of big-ticket items such as cars, motorcycles, boats, and agricultural equipment. Believe it or not, many book brands offer co-op funding to their reseller channels. Not only do stores like Barnes & Noble and Books-A-Million earn co-op funds, but so do all the “mom and pop” bookstores open around the country. Not only do these brands offer co-op funding to promote their book brands with local advertising, but they also allow co-op funds to be used for “author events” that bring large groups of people into their establishments.
Let’s look at a few quick facts about books and their readers. Some of these “tidbits” can be used in planning local ad campaigns.
