There is not much time left before co-op funds expire for many manufacturer brands (that run on an annual basis). However, it is NOT too late to put together a great Social Media post, or Online Display ad, and get that up and running before the end of the year to utilize available funds. Although it may be too late for folks to get their chimneys cleaned in time for Santa, you still want to advertise so that folks can get this cleaning service scheduled for the beginning of the year. If you work with any customers who are selling or servicing fireplaces, this is a perfect time to promote a cleaning “special”.
Let’s look at a few Fireplace Tips that you may be able to incorporate into some great ad campaigns.
Fireplace Tips
- I know it sounds like a “no-brainer,” but always check first that your damper is open. A lot of folks close it come the end of spring/early summer and may forget to open it again.
- It really is important to have a professional come to inspect and clean your chimney at least once a year to remove blockages or animal nests (trust me, I had the animal nest!).
- Keep all flammable items like furniture, rugs, and decorations at least 3 feet away from the fireplace.
- Use dry, seasoned hardwood for a hotter, more efficient fire – never use pressure-treated wood!
- Use a fireplace screen or keep glass doors closed to prevent sparks from escaping.
- With gas fireplaces: you still want to have it cleaned regularly. It is best to have the service done by a professional company as they use the proper cleaning products.
- Familiarize yourself with the location of the gas shut-off valve and how to turn it off in an emergency.
