Let’s color your world with co-op funds to get ready for the holiday season! If you work with any clients that sell paint brands, this is a great time to promote a fresh coat of paint in advance of the upcoming holidays and use up their co-op funds prior to the end of the year. At the end of September, Pantone announced its Color of the Year for 2026. The Sherwin-Williams color Universal Khaki was voted the winner. We are betting you will see walls, furniture, and even cabinets painted in this gorgeous medium tan (with a hint of green) shade next year. This is a true honor for paint brands as the color is selected annually by the Pantone Color Institute.
Let’s look at a few Painting Tips that you may be able to incorporate into some great ad campaigns.
Painting Tips
- For kitchens, stick with lighter, neutral colors. Very dark colors (which may be trendy for a home office or study), can absorb light and make a kitchen feel smaller, less inviting and potentially gloomy. Super bright colors (like bright yellow, hot pinks, oranges or neons) can be overwhelming and feel chaotic in a busy space; not to mention that some of the bright or saturated colors can go out of style quickly.
- For bathrooms, think of calm, restful colors. You usually start out in the bathroom getting ready for the day, and then at day’s end, you are in there taking a relaxing bath or shower. Think seafoam or a light shade of sage green, or a calm and restful blue. Again, using a very bright or dark color is a “no-go” since it really shrinks the size of the room. Another “no go” is matching the paint hue to the floor tie as it easily looks outdated (this was popular way back in the 1960’s!).
- We also want to mention that Behr paint also promotes a Color of the Year, and for 2026, the color is called Hidden Gem. It is a smoky jade green color that would look great in big spaces or as an accent wall by painting your fireplace and paneling in that shade.
