Let’s talk about co-op for “All Things Spring”! After a pretty brutal winter in a lot of the Midwest and East Coast, like below-average temps, wind chills, and more snow than many of us have seen in the last five years or so, I think everybody out there is ready for some outdoor spring activities. It even snowed as far south as Florida (and poor Atlanta and Myrtle Beach dealt with both snow AND ice)! It’s time to put away the snow boots and parkas and break out the sneakers and shorts. If you work with any customers selling sporting goods, gardening products, outdoor furniture, bicycles, motorcycles, sneakers, and summer clothing, now is a great time to help them promote their goods!
Let’s look at a few “Spring Things” to get us thinking about potential ad campaigns:
Spring Activities
- Play softball (and soccer!). Now is the time to get your kids signed up for summer softball, T-ball, and soccer teams, or maybe you still want to play and join a baseball “beer league”.
- Take a hike (or even do some running). Spring is a great time to hike because it isn’t so hot yet that you tend to enjoy the views more than in the summer when you feel like you have to get that hike in “as exercise”.
- Have a picnic in the park. Again, another great thing to do before it gets too hot outside, and you get attacked by a million insects (bees are especially bad in Michigan in late summer!).
- Start some seeds. This is the perfect time to clean out your flower beds and make plans as to what you need to buy, the types of flowers you want – will you grow them or buy them? You may need fertilizer, ground cover, and more!
- Start “biking”! This can be everything from an “old school”, pedal bike, perhaps a newer electric bicycle, or go big with a motorcycle to get out and enjoy the fresh air and sunshine.
- See the cherry blossoms. If travel is possible, go to the Cherry Blossom Capital of the World, also known as Macon, Georgia. They have over 350,000 trees. Another great place to see is the Tidal Basin in Washington, DC.
