Help your customers promote “all things” outdoor, utilizing their Co-op Advertising Funds. February was the start of all Spring Home & Garden shows across the country. They continued in March and are wrapping up this month. As a matter of fact, April is basically the equivalent of “Spring Black Friday” when the biggest outdoor sales are run. This is when products such as mulch, power tools, plants, and more are at the absolute best prices. After April, there is one more “hot time” for plants, outdoor furniture, etc.: Mother’s Day weekend in May.
Let’s look at a few Spring Home & Garden-related facts that you may be able to incorporate into some great ad campaigns:
Spring Home & Garden Shows
- Exactly what is promoted at these shows: First up would be landscaping and hardscaping and next up is Outdoor Living followed by Garden Supplies. Lastly, home upgrades would be the final category. We will look at each of these categories below.
- Landscaping & Hardscaping: Landscape companies are there to help you to visualize and achieve the perfect look for the front and back property of your home. They can design layouts and determine appropriate plants/shrubs based on sunlight, shade, temperature and more. Hardscapes act as the functional backbone of an outdoor area, such as patios, walkways, retaining walls, fire pits and items such as water fountains, ponds and statuary.
- Outdoor Living: Grills, patios, outdoor kitchens and furniture brands are all heavily promoted at the shows.
- Garden Supplies: This category includes early season seeds, bulbs, shrubs, but also includes outdoor tools. The tool category would cover gas/electric trimmers, leaf blowers, and even wheelbarrows in addition to a plethora of lawn mower brands (both riding and walk-behind).
- Home Upgrades: The shows promote indoor kitchen/bath remodeling, flooring, windows and paint.

Silver, Gold and Platinum partners earn 2% of their prior year’s purchases as their co-op accrual fund. Reimbursement is up to 50% for traditional and digital advertising.
Coast of Maine – Coast of Maine and Frey Products
Retailers earn their co-op accrual fund based on their current year’s purchases, and the amount earned varies by product purchased. Reimbursement is up to 100% for Radio, Print, Outdoor, and Online advertising.
